Nicolin Studio Architettura

Pierluigi Nicolin carries out his design activity along with teaching and research as professor of Architectural Composition at Politecnico di Milano. Winner in 1972 of the International Competition for the new University of Calabria campus, he was a founding partner of Gregotti Associati, which he remained with until 1978. Sceptical toward technological fashions, in his designs he reinterprets contemporary modernity starting from a metropolitan perspective which privileges the outskirts, abandoned areas and new centralities. In the field of architectural and urban planning he has realised Belice1980, IBA of Berlin, the Oslo Biennale, Nine Parks for Milan and the transformation of the historic quadrilateral of Fiera di Milano. He has realised new cultural spaces like the Centro di Arti Contemporanee and the EUR Congress Centre in Rome, the FMC Congress Centre in Milan and the Polo Provinciale of Milan Province. He has always carried out an intensive communicative and expository activity, designing and setting up shows for the Triennale di Milano and engaging in publishing/current affairs activity with his magazine, Lotus International.
